Lilt Reader Terms of Use

These terms apply to the Lilt Reader app for iPhone and iPad and to liltreader.com. Lilt Reader is published by Einherjar Ventures LLC ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Lilt Reader, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Your licence to use the app

Lilt Reader is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple's EULA"). These terms add to Apple's EULA. If the two conflict, Apple's EULA governs your licence to the app.

Lilt Reader Pro

• What it includes. Lilt Reader Pro unlocks the neural voices, audiobook sync and turning audiobooks into text. Reading, the iOS system voice, speed reading and Audiobookshelf are free.
• Plans. Pro is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
• Payment. All purchases are made through Apple's App Store and charged to your Apple ID. We never see or store your payment details.
• Free trials. A subscription may start with a free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it becomes a paid subscription and you are charged at the price shown.
• Renewal and cancelling. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You can cancel anytime in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions, and Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
• Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Lifetime. A lifetime purchase unlocks Pro for as long as we offer and support the app, on the Apple devices that use your Apple ID.
• Changes to Pro. We may change Pro's features or prices for future purchases. Subscription price changes follow the App Store's rules, including asking for your consent where required.

Your books and audio

• Lilt Reader opens files you provide: EPUB books and audiobooks from the Files app or your own Audiobookshelf server. It does not sell or supply books, and it cannot open books protected by DRM.
• You are responsible for having the right to use the books and audio you add. Transcripts and text that Lilt Reader writes from your audiobooks are for your personal use, like the audiobooks themselves.
• Your books, audio, transcripts and reading progress stay on your device. See the Privacy Policy.

Narration, transcription and sync

The neural voices, speech recognition and audiobook sync run on your device and are automated. Narration may mispronounce words, transcripts may contain errors, and the highlighted text may not always match the audio exactly. Don't rely on them where accuracy is critical.

Other services

Lilt Reader can connect to services we don't control, such as your Audiobookshelf server, Hugging Face (to download speech recognition models) and Apple. Their own terms and policies apply, and we're not responsible for them.

Acceptable use

Don't use Lilt Reader to break the law or infringe anyone's rights, and don't attempt to reverse engineer, resell or interfere with the app or its purchases, except where the law allows it.

Our rights

The Lilt Reader name, logo, design and software belong to Einherjar Ventures LLC or its licensors. Open-source components are used under their own licences, listed in the app under Settings › Acknowledgements.

Disclaimers

Lilt Reader is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will work with every book, audiobook or server.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Einherjar Ventures LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, books, audio or profits, arising from your use of Lilt Reader. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for Lilt Reader Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Ending your use

You can stop using Lilt Reader at any time by deleting it. We may end or limit your access if you seriously break these terms. The sections on your books and audio, our rights, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date above and, for significant changes, mention them in the app's release notes. If you keep using Lilt Reader after an update, the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Washington, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
